POSTPARTUM CARE
Midwives can provide in-home postpartum care for you and your baby for up to six weeks postpartum
Postpartum care for you and your baby will begin immediately after birth and continue through six weeks. In the immediate postpartum, midwives will continue to monitor you and your baby, in the comfort of your home. Baby’s bonding with parents will be a priority, with exams done in your arms. Once you and your baby have been stable for at least 2 hours, the midwives will clean up and depart. You will have access by phone 24/7 to your midwife with any questions or concerns that may arise.
Postpartum care continues at 24-48 hours, where all standard newborn tests can be performed, an optional 1 week visit, 2 weeks postpartum visit, and a final visit at 5-6 weeks postpartum. During these visits, midwives will continue to monitor the physical and emotional wellbeing of the mother as well as the growth and health of the newborn.
